ELDORET puma suede classic black , Kenya, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- It is a matter of time before the marathon world record deeps under the two hour three minutes mark.
That was the parting shot that Chicago and Tokyo marathon Champion Dennis Kimetto said after his training in Iten on Wednesday. Kenyan Wilson Kipsang set a world record of 2:03:23 when he won Berlin marathon in September crushing compatriot's Patrick Makau's 2:03:38.
"If you look at how fast people are running now, it is obvious somebody will run under Two hours and three minutes very soon. But that is not what concerns me most. I want to see if I can break the world record. I missed that chance in Chicago in October, but I have not given up yet," the 29-year-old told Xinhua Wednesday in Iten.
Kimetto, who holds the world record over 25km puma suede core platform pink , ran with two course record set in Tokyo in February last year and Chicago in October.
In Tokyo, he run 2:06:50, which was his second marathon, after his debut in Berlin in 2012, where he finished second to training mate Geoffrey Mutai.
Kimetto, in October puma fenty bow creeper sandals , broke the year-old Chicago Marathon course record by 53 seconds to win in 2:03:45, the fastest time ever run in the United States on a record-eligible course. Of course in 2010, Mutai ran 2:03:02 in Boston, but IAAF never ratified it.
But that is not of concern to Kimetto, who has returned to training ahead of next year's marathons. The Chicago marathon champion has opted to skip his title defence in Tokyo in Feb. 13 and instead will put in extra hours to be fit for the Boston marathon race, which has a fatter cheque at 150 puma fenty bow slides womens ,000 U.S. dollars for the winner.
"I will not defend my crown in Tokyo. I have got this lucrative offer to run in Boston and I have to do everything right to see that I win there," Kimetto told Xinhua.
"The target is to run faster, but we all know that the Boston Marathon course is not certified by the IAAF for a world record so, it is important to win in a faster time, better than what I had in Chicago," he added.
"I will be carrying along my training partner Simon Kirwa as my pace maker. He is still young and he is learning fast. At 18-years-old puma fenty bow sneakers womens , Kirwa is one of the most promising runners and I want him to set the pace for me in Boston," he said.
But the ultimate test for Kimetto is to run at the World Championships in Beijing in 2015 or the Rio De Janeiro Olympics in 2016.
"Of course it's every athletes dream to compete, leave alone winning at the biggest stage. Beijing 2015 and Rio 2016 are appealing and should I be called upon, then I will have to reschedule my races and be available for the national duty," he said.
"I believe I have the credential to edge out my countrymen if I continue with the momentum I have at the moment. But to make the Kenya team is always hard and when called upon, one can never let such a chance pass by puma fenty fur slides womens ," he said.
Kimetto already has his 2014 calendar full. "I want to run at the World Championships, but if that is not possible then I will run Berlin and, if I run Berlin, then I want to go after the world record," he added.
"To run under the current mark is possible and I find it hard to turn off that idea of setting a world record in Berlin next year. I have confirmed with the organisers to get me a slot in the race after my show in Boston," said Kimetto.
In Chicago last year puma basket heart denim blue , Kimetto was so certain of winning after the 35km mark and he kept on pushing the pace.
Close behind Kimetto, Kenyan Emmanuel Mutai finished second at yet another World Marathon Major.
Emmanuel's time of 2:03:52 makes him the fastest loser in history on a record-eligible course; the time would have been a world record as recently as September 2011.
Yet, just a few years ago, Kimetto was a farmer in Kenya. Now, he is shattering marathon records. He set a course record for his first marathon victory at the 2013 Tokyo Marathon.
In just his second race at the distance he used a strong second half to cross the finish line in 2:06:50, eight seconds ahead of fellow Kenyan Michael Kipyego.
If the IAAF recognized marathon debut world records puma suede heart satin grey , Kimetto would be the world record holder. In his first race at Berlin in September 2012, Kimetto crossed the finish line in 2:04:16, just one second behind winner Geoffrey Mutai.
That was seven seconds better than Ayele Abshero's run at Dubai in January 2012. (Moses Mosop ran 2:03:06 at Boston at 2011 on a downhill course with a strong following wind).
In Berlin last year, Kimetto was trying to become the first man to accomplish an unprecedented calendar year "Berlin triple".
Earlier in 2012 he won there at the half-marathon (59:14, Berlin Half marathon) and at 25km (1:11:18, BIG 25). The only man to win the first two races in the same year was Tendai Chimusasa in 1994 but he did not win the marathon.
However puma suede heart reset pink , Kimetto's bio speaks to the new age of men's marathoning. He began running only three years ago winning a 10km Nairobi road race. He was a subsistence farmer before that near Eldoret.
He had started running a little on his own when he had a chance meeting with Geoffrey Mutai, the current New York City course record holder and champion.
Mutai asked Kimetto to join his training group, and two years later Kimetto ran the fastest debut in history on a record-eligible course, finishing 1 second behind Mutai in 2:04:16 at the 2012 Berlin Marathon.
Like most of the new breed, he has gone immediately to the roads, skipping the track and field puma basket heart patent white , which pays poorly.
His focus is now on the life-altering money available for those who rise to the top, the ultimate 42km road race to test the endurance limits.
Only time now stands between Kimetto and that marathon world record and 2014 promises to be a good year.
